FULCRUM FITNESS -
Moving  towards change!

Muscles work in integration, not in isolation, therefore training should focus on integrated movements, not in isolated movements. Simply put, isolation is great for bodybuilders and those in physical therapy, but most healthy clients should concentrate on improving movements.

I follow guidelines that allow me to live a full life. I don't cut out all the fun, but  enjoy challenging myself when it comes to working out. Depending on what your goals are,  I will guarantee that after each workout you will be one step closer to change.

I believe that athletic and functional Training is for everyone, no matter what your goals are.  My clients train with me because they are looking for something different and more challenging than the standard health club and more challenging than their standard routine, and for workouts that allow them to live their lives to the fullest.

Testimonials

After years of not working out, I wanted to get back into shape.  I wanted to run. From his first training session Owen listened to my goals.  He implemented a series of training sessions that have taken a non runner from “huff and puff – when can we stop…” to a 5k competitor.
After the first two weeks, Owen explained that running was not enough.  We embarked on a strength training program.  Each day I lifted more than the day before. Under Owens direction, I have steadily increased the weights I lift and the distance that I run.
As a child, I did not play sports or exercise in anyway.  I saw working out as painful and not fulfilling.  Owens direct approach has shown me that I can compete as a runner, that physical activity can be fun and that sports can be a very important aspect of my life.
I started exercising as a necessity.  It was something I dreaded but had to do for health reasons.  Because of Owen it has become my favorite part of the day.  Sports are now becoming an important part of my life.  Thank you Owen!

“As a former Division I Lacrosse coach and player I understand the sacrifice and hard work it takes to achieve results.  Owens’s experience, enthusiasm and discipline are essential elements for any athlete looking to improve performance.  He uses modern athletic training programs, along with regimented movements that focus on sustained results.  I would recommend Owen to anyone looking for an improved lifestyle or better athletic achievement.

"Participating in Owen's group workouts turned me on to a aspect of training that you don't often get when working out one-on-one or by yourself in the gym -- teamwork and group encouragement.  Trying to push yourself to get better is tough enough as it is, but the group workouts Owen develops and runs help to make you push yourself to your limits without realizing it.  During the actual workouts, I gained inspiration from those working out around me -- seeing them work as hard as they were made me want to work that much harder.  Owen always puts on a tough workout, but structured in a way that you push yourself individually with the support of the whole group.  In my 13 years of competitive athletics, it is truly one of the best ways I've found to train."

Last summer I sought out Owen with two ideas in mind: to train for rugby and SEAL training. Having told him this in my initial email exchanges with him, he made a workout plan for me that encompassed everyday for the whole summer. He gave me a swim workout to do three times a week, running workout three times a week, and a gym workout four times a week.  Twice a week I worked out in the gym with him and he focused on exercises that involved full body movements versus isolating muscles. This helped improve my overall strength and gave me a functional strength versus that of body building types. Once a week we met at the track of a local high school and focused on sprinting and interval running to get my overall speed and endurance up. Throughout my time training with him, he did his best to accommodate what I needed for both rugby and SEALs and it was extremely helpful. My overall strength improved, my running speed increased as well as my endurance, I became a better swimmer, and I lost weight. Also, he taught me many exercises that I was able to take out to California and I still use them to this day.  Needless to say, without his help and guidance I would not be in the position I am in today; he set me up for success. I even did a half Ironman Triathlon this spring
